In Long Beach, the Aquarium of the Pacific will be opening up a new penguin exhibit on Thursday. The penguins in the exhibit have already started mating, and there is a newly hatched chick. These penguins were previously living in bad conditions, and so they were safely rescued. For example, four of the penguins were rescued from being stranded and starving on Brazilian beaches. I love sea life, and it will be nice to see penguins at the aquarium!

These last twelve months have been the hottest months on record for the United States. This mostly is focused on Texas, the upper Midwest, and the Northwest. Southern California has been relatively normal temperatures. A big issue for the hot weather is global warming, but scientists cannot blame just that for the variability in the weather. Worldwide, hot weather is now normal. I personally like the hot temperatures better than the cold. There are more fun things you can do, and also hot weather means summer vacation for us.

I don’t think Alan Purdy should be prosecuted for this situation. He let his wife kill herself out of love, and understood that it was the only way his wife would be happy. It must have been extremely saddening for him to finally lose his loved one, and then have to spend time in the police station. His wife Margaret’s wishes were not even granted. Her body was not donated to UC San Diego as an organ donor as she wanted, but instead went to a medical examiner.

http://realestate.yahoo.com/promo/privacy-is-lacking-in-this-tokyo-glass-home.html

In Tokyo, an architect built an entirely transparent house. It is three stories and the walls are made of glass. An interesting thing about this house is that instead of a leveled floor, there are 21 different floor plates. The architect had the branches of a tree as his inspiration for this interior design. I’m sure that living in a “fishbowl” is quite an interesting experience. One day, I would like to see this house in person!

“Sit in a room and read—and read and read. And read the right books by the right people. Your mind is brought onto that level, and you have a nice, mild, slow-burning rapture all the time.”
